Write about the following topic:

Task 2: People should look after their health for personal benefits, rather than a duty for society. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Model answer:

The question of whether people should look after their health for personal benefits or as a duty to society is a matter of debate. Some believe that individuals should take responsibility for their own health and wellness, while others believe that this is a shared responsibility between the individual and society. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my own opinion.

On the one hand, there is a strong argument that people should look after their health for personal benefits. A healthy lifestyle can lead to better physical and mental well-being, increased energy and productivity, and a longer lifespan. By focusing on their own health, individuals can also reduce the burden on the healthcare system and save money on medical expenses. Moreover, taking care of one's own health is a personal choice that can have a positive impact on one's own life, and it is not necessary to have a sense of obligation to society.

On the other hand, there is a compelling argument that people should look after their health as a duty to society. A healthy population is essential for the overall health and well-being of society. For example, a healthy workforce is critical for the economic prosperity of a country, and a healthy population can reduce the burden on healthcare systems and improve public health outcomes. Additionally, the health and well-being of one person can have a positive impact on others, such as family, friends, and co-workers.

In my opinion, both personal benefits and a sense of duty to society are important reasons for people to take care of their health. While individuals should take responsibility for their own well-being, they should also recognize that their health has a broader impact on society. A healthy population is essential for the long-term health and prosperity of a country, and individuals should view their health as a shared responsibility with society.

In conclusion, looking after one's health is both a personal responsibility and a duty to society. By focusing on their own health and well-being, individuals can enjoy personal benefits and contribute to the overall health and prosperity of society.
