Topic given:
What are some important qualities of a good supervisor (boss)? Use specific details and examples to explain why these qualities are important.

Essay 1:
In employees’ life, everyone always work under supervise of a boss who manages a group people in a company based on work relationship. Depending on purpose of employees, there are many opinions in what are qualities of a good supervisor. In my opinion, a good boss is usually a person, who has strong background in his job, and is interested in his staff.

The main job of a boss is usually decision makings based on what his staff give him. To have a good choice, he needs to be an expert in his field. With strong background, he will know what’s true or wrong on a job. Therefore, he makes a final exact decision. Beside, if there is any problem in a project, he’ll know what he should do to find a solution. Actually, a boss having good knowledge is always highly appreciated and respected from every employee.

Additionally, a good boss is also a person who always is interested in his staffs such as having daily conversation, team training game or giving some small gift in birthday...ect. This helps him easily make a good relationship with them. From that, he can know clearly characteristic’s his staff which is a strong or weak points for his mission. Surely, setting up some work base on their ability is to get higher capacity. The friendly ship with employees also helps him solve conflict generated in a relationship between staff and boss.

In summary, a good supervisor needs to not only be an expert in his job, but also have to understand his staff life. This helps him always be number one in the staff’s eyes and keep stably his team.

Essay 2:
I think a good boss should be able to make his people enjoy the work they are doing and encourage their diligence.
Many people have to work under somebody's supervision. In most cases an employee does not choose his or her boss, unless a supervisor is elected. In the following paragraphs I will list the most important qualities of my "ideal boss".

First of all, he must be impartial. I believe that it is very important to make a technical decision, think about somebody's promotion, etc. impartially. For instance, my friend is a supervisor on a dairy mill. It is his family's business so a lot of his relatives work there. But he never promotes someone because he or she is his family. I think it is a good quality for a boss.

Second of all, my "ideal boss" must be honest, patient and attentive. He should pay attention to people's feelings, encourage them by increasing their salary, listen to their suggestions about improving labor conditions and productivity. For instance, if he does not satisfied with the result he should understand the origin of the problem and explain people how to fix it. In addition, he must know how to solve conflicts that can arise between employees.

Another important quality of a boss is the ability to choose the right decisions and to learn on somebody's mistakes.
Finally, I think a good boss must value his or her employees because the profit directly depends on the people who work there.
In conclusion, I think a good boss should be able to make his people enjoy the work they are doing and encourage their diligence.

Essay 3:
Recently, many reports reveal that the relationship between the boss and staff is not good. They seldom talk to one another. Most of the staff say that their bosses are bad tempered and their boss always scold them without reasons. Thus, they are unwilling to communicate with their boss. How can the situation be improved? The boss should improve themselves and to have a good quality. In this essay, I am going to state three qualities that are important for being a good boss.

A good boss should have good-mannered. When the staff have done something wrong, the boss should not scold them at once. He/she should give their staff chances to improve. If the staff still doesn’t improve it, he/she may give them some warnings, rather than scolding them. Sometimes, scolding them would have an adverse effect. They will be very angry and won’t follow your instructions later. Besides, if the staff are late to the office, the boss should listen to their explanations. Sometimes, there may be a traffic accident and will cause serious traffic congestion.

Moreover, the boss should be considerate. He/she should not always ask the staff to work overtime. The staff are already very tired after a long day of work and they don’t have much energy to work for extra hours. If they still continue to work, they can’t easily concentrate and the work efficiency is much lowered. They may also make many mistakes while they are working. The boss should not always ask them to go back to the office when they are having holidays as they have to restore their energy after working for a whole week. In addition, if the staff have to work on some kind of projects, the boss should not force them to finish them in a short period of time. He/she should give sufficient time to them to work on it, otherwise the staff may finish the projects.

Apart from being considerate, the boss should be fair to all staff. He/she should not be partial to someone. It is very unfair to the other staff. They would be very angry and will not work for you wholeheartedly. The boss should equally allocated the work to each staff. The workload of each staff should not be too heavy. If there are not enough staffs in the office, the boss should ask more staff to help.

All in all, it is very important to be a good boss. The boss should communicate more with the staff and they will have better understanding between one another . If the boss is a good one, all the staff would respect him/her. They would be happier while working and a sense of belonging is also developed towards the office.

Essay 4:
It's surely not so easy to be a good supervisor because you have to manage so many things and to deal with a lot of people, including your employees. In my opinion, the most important qualities a good supervisor should have are discretion, finesse and impartiality.

Since a supervisor is usually responsible for a company, project, or business, etc., he will certainly meet many difficulties and problems and require him to make correct decisions. If a supervisor has not discretion and hesitate to solve the problems, he, of course, can't deal with them well, and he maybe lose some chances of business or cause greater damage because of his hesitation.

Besides discretion, I think a good supervisor should have finesse and impartiality. Usually a supervisor will supervise several employees. It is common there is some conflict of interest among the employees. How to make the employees get along with one another well is a task for a good supervisor. Generally speaking, if a supervisor treats his employees impartially, he can reduce or avoid the conflict of interest among the employees and make them work hard. Jinny was a supervisor in my company, when there was a chance of promotion in her department, she gave the chance to a employee who worked very hard, not to her relative who also worked in her department. All employees said nothing bad about the promotion but respected her.

As a supervisor, a person has to not only do his work well, but also manage his company or team well. In order to be a good supervisor, the most important qualities he should have are discretion, finesse and impartiality.

Essay 5:
Though everyone will work in different places such as a company, a college or university, a factory and so on, I think there are the same standards judging a good supervisor in several aspects.

Firstly, a good supervisor treats his/her staff fairly. He knows how to balance the workload. He will not let some members of his staff do many things while others only do a few things. If he gives you a task, he will tell you in advance. Moreover, he will not ask you to complete a project in a few days that actually needs half a month to do. A poorsupervisor never considers his employee’s feeling. A poor supervisor is usually not a good planner, so he is very nervous when a project comes to its deadline, and he will use his fault to punish his staff. A supervisor like this would certainly not benefit the company.

Secondly, a good supervisor praises or criticizes in a straightforward way. If you do very well, he will praise you, and encourage you to do better. If you have made a mistake, he will criticize you face to face, and will no complaint to your co-workers. He will also analyze how to improve your work and point out the ways to do thing right. Furthermore, he will encourage you and trust that you will do well next time.

Thirdly, a good supervisor cares for his staff. He is aware of your feelings and emotions. When you are sick, he will send you flowers or visit you, or he will arrange other members of staff to see you if he is busy. He treats his staff like family members. He is gentle and cheerful. Smile often appears on his face when he greets you. On the contrary, a poor supervisor often pretends to be serious. He never understands what his subordinates are thinking. His staff will never have a good mood when he is present at work.

Finally, a good supervisor must set a good example top his staff. He must work hard, and has a strong sense of responsibility about his company. He must understand the operations of the company, and can do every staff’s job in his department when necessary. That way he will win respect from his stuff and his spirit can motivate them.

In short, a good supervisor treats his workers fairly, cares for their feelings, treat them as family members, and set a good example for them.

Essay 6:
When asked what the important qualities if a supervisor are, different people hold different perspectives, due to their different experiences. After pondering this question on many occasions, I sum up three vitalqualities that a supervisor or a boss should possess.

In my understanding, the most essential trait of a boss is that he or she should be able to do what is required of his/her subordinates. As an English proverb says, “Example is better than precept.” If a boss wants the employees to be hard-working, he or she should be diligent himself or herself. The dean of my department, for example, is a very conscientious man. He is never late in the morning and never leaves earlier than the rest of the staff. By setting himself as a good example, he teachers us what is a right attitude to work.

Another crucial feature of a boss is communication skills. The duty of a boss is to give instructions and directions to his or her employees. If the purpose and the means are not clearly explained, people many feel at loss as to what to do. Again, our dean is an expert is explaining a task. He usually not only lets us know what and how we should do, he also stirs up our interest and enthusiasm in the job to be done.

The last but not the least vital features of a boss is that he or she should be an understanding or considerate person. If an employee made a mistake, the boss should not rush to criticize him or her. Instead, the boss should first figure out the reasons behind the wrong deed. By saying that, I do not mean that a boss should always be lenient. What I mean is that a boss should consider himself or herself equal to the employ as human being. In that case, both parties can reach an understating on the basic of mutual respect.

In short, a supervisor should be a person who is self-disciplined, expressive and considerate and who does not deem him or herself a superior being to others.

Essay 7:
The good qualities of the supervisor makes the company in the good position and the better palce for the employees to work. The boss should have certain qualities to maintain the office or the business.According to my personal openion the qualities of the boss is so importent to maintain the maintain the office staff and for smooth running of the office.
One the good quality that a boss should have is to be panctual. The boss should be panctual to the office because the fellow staff will follow the boss.Infact the boss should come little bit earlier to the office when compared with the fellow staff. If the boss is not punctual to the office the staff will take it as an advantage and they also will come late to the office .One example i can quote from my personel experience is that when i was working in a transport company as the typist. My boss was not panctual to the office infact he comes very rare to the office the staff taken this as an advatage and they became very lazy towards the work .They did not showed much interest to the work and they postponed the importent works also, the business has runnend in loss.any way i left the job,From this, the boss learned and now he is comming regularly and more panctual to the office and now it is running well.

The other good qualty that the boss should have is the kindness and cooperative towards the fellow employees and the staff. The boss should be very kind towards the staff then only one can take the company to the profits. The boss should be very cooperative with fellow staff .with out copoeration from both sides the company can not run.For example when i was working as a typist in the steel factory the factory boss was not that much cooperative and he never showed kindness towards any employees when they are in problems .he never gave leave to the staff in case of urgency also.Every one understood the mentality of the boss and slowley evry one started resigning from the company. Hence i conclude from my personnel experience that the good qualities the boss should have is that he must be panctual to the office and towards the work and he should be cooperative.
